Independance Day

Nothing says happy independance day like a smiling baby...well, i guess american flags do, and soldiers in uniform, and other patriotic things like that...but after all that--babies are best.
Junie's been smiling a lot lately...especially when i talk to her in a high voice and play w/her legs.
HB does 4th of July right. They close off many of the streets down town for a 5k run followed by the biggest parade west of the mississippi (so they say). We sat in our front yard in the morning, drinking coffee, watching all the people try to find parking--oh its good to live down town and not have to drive to the festivities! We walked over to our friend Gina's house to watch the parade. She puts on an amazing party with catered food and kegs of beer.
Kelly had a chocolate muffin :)Here we are walking home. Kelly's leash came in handy as he was hyper and running everywhere and wanting to investigate things in people's yards.

Whee!!

Relaxing back at the casa before our BBQ

Our friends Brent and Andrea came over

we ate hot dogs and watermelon
The streets were crazy all around us with hundreds of pedestrians and bikers. It was so noisy and crazy that we didn't even budge when we heard a crash and a scream. But in another minute we saw police helicopters circling and went out front to see what was going on. There were 4 cop cars, a fire truck, and an ambulance right in front of my house! A woman was hit by a car. I think she was on foot. I guess she was pretty OK because they sent the ambulance away.

We stayed in the rest of the day and more friends stopped by to visit. We couldn't go down to the beach to watch the fireworks cuz Kelly was sleeping, but we ended up sitting in our front lawn and watched them from there...pretty cool that we could see them from our own house!

Sounds like you had a fun filled day! Your kiddos are adorable and Colby has that same monkey leash, too cute. We are wanting to make a trip down south, so we'll have to get our kids together. We also watched the fireworks from our backyard while our kids were asleep, even though I don't know how they slept with all that noise :) Take care girl!
